Diamond Earrings

Diamond Earrings

My mother gave me her diamond earrings. She wanted me to have them because they started to bother her when she slept in them but they were too difficult for her to take on and off every day.

The Last Night

The Last Night

The last night The last night We started our day off with a 4.5 km walk- up hill both ways. We sat out all day at my cousins home on the lake. The wind was cool and the sun was biting hot. We read, sat, took turns holding the baby.  We paused our rigorous day for some lunch and when the sun was no longer on the dock, we retreated into the house to make supper.  Emily and Anna were…

Off the Dock

Off the Dock

He shouted “is it warm?” As he ran down the dock- pool noodle in hand. “Yes!” Yelled his brother- as he leaped off the dock with the trusting reckless abandon of a child.

Rainbows

On the way home today, there was a storm with driving rain and on the other side of the road was sunshine- two opposing forcing that were battling to exist. Both had hidden secrets of something that is not good- the sun can scorch and burn. The driving rain and storm forces can destroy and flood.

No Do Overs…

No Do Overs…

One evening Leo and I were celebrating our Anniversary at a Restaurant in another city. At the end of our meal, we decided to order a piece of chocolate cake to share. We were both too full to eat our own piece of dessert. The cake came to the table with two forks and we each took a bite. It was the most delicious piece of cake I had ever tasted. Bruce Trail Hiking Adventure Blazing the Trail

Bruce Trail Hiking Adventure Blazing the Trail

Blazing the Trail I have gone on numerous walks in my life. I have passed by thousands of trees and fence posts and never noticed the little white rectangles that were painted on some of them. This has been going on in my life for years, walking, passing by a marking, not being impressed enough to remember or want to know more about what they are or why they are there. Then I started to hike the Bruce trail and…

Bruce Trail Hiking Adventure Day 2

Bruce Trail Hiking Adventure Day 2

July 11 New Mountain Road to Greenhill 10 km Today we planned out a shorter walk of 5 km-at least that is what Olivia told me. The rough terrain from the first day was causing my knees to ache and my ankles to be somewhat painful with each step. I was not complaining because I decided I would not quit-I had quit quitting.

Bruce Trail Hiking Adventure Day 1

Bruce Trail Hiking Adventure Day 1

July 10, 2017 Beamer Conservation to New Mountain Road Somehow we came up with idea of hiking-no, Olivia said she wanted to hike the Bruce Trail. She wanted to hike all of it from the southern terminus in Niagara to the northern terminus in Tobermory Ontario for a total of 892 KM.  After talking about this for a year and discussing a plan of attack, purchasing a trail book, membership, backpack, hiking boots, rain gear and other ‘cool’ things we…
